Tibetan students who are studying at south India can have great benefit by applying through Goverment quota for courses such as B.Sc Nursing, MBA, MCA and M.Sc. The seat will be given by conselling process or by extrance exam.

Miss Tibet 2010

Tenzin Norzom, a 23-year-old was crowned Kingfisher Miss Tibet 2010 at the beauty pageant's grand finale night. She was born in Hunsur Tibetan settlement in South India, in 1986. She just completed Shastri degree (equivalent to Bachelor of Arts degree) from the Central University of Tibetan Studies in Varanasi. She is fluent in English, Tibetan and Hindi, and likes reading, music and dancing, and playing badminton. Norzon received a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000.

Tenzin Norzom was extremely happy and excited after winning the crown and said that she wanted to do something for Tibet and Tibetans-in-exile.

"It's a wonderful opportunity I got. I will step forward and will do something. I feel great with Tibetans and as a Tibetan, that I performed as a contestant in front of all. I feel good that I won," said Norzon.

BIOTECH as a career option:


Biotechnology is a field of biology that involves the use of living things in engineering,technology, medicine, etc.. If you wish to study B.Sc. Biotech, you can do this from Chennai or Bangalore, India. In Chennai, you can take only Biotech as your major subject however, you can take 2 other major subjects such as Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Genetics and Chemistry, Biochemistry under Bangalore University. The fee for B.Sc. Biotech at Bangalore will be in the range from 35,000 to 80,000 per year depending on the combination of subjects and types of college. During Master level, you can take Biotech as only the master subject in Bangalore University.

There will be 2 internals and 1 semester exam. Semester exam will be of 60 marks out of which you need to get 60 marks for passing. 30 marks will be for practical and 10 marks will for internal.

Once you complete the B.Sc. Biotech, it is bit hard to find good subject related job and even if you get one, the pay will be less (Around 6-8K). Only way to get a good job is to do specialization such as M.Sc. Clinical research, M.Sc. Bioinformatics, Medical Biotech, Molecular Biology and many more or P.G. diploma.

You can get scholarship form DOE for 1 students for B. Sc Biotech and you can also apply for FUR and Songtsen for the same.
