Fulbright Scholarship 2013


The Tibet Fund is pleased to announce the opening of the 2013 Tibetan Scholarship Program (TSP), a
program funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, for eligible
Tibetan refugees in Bhutan, India and Nepal. Applications are being accepted for two-year master’s degree
programs in the United States, pending the availability of funds.  Application forms are available below.

Two-year Degree Program:
a) Applicants for the two-year master’s program in the United States must have secured grades of a
minimum of 45 percent in a bachelor’s and post-graduate program.
b) Applicants must have completed at least four years of academic work after class XII including a
bachelor’s degree. Partial computer courses, vocational training and diplomas from non-recognized
academic institutions will not be accepted.
c) To demonstrate English language skills, applicants must produce a copy of their TOEFL iBT score with a minimum score of 90 out of 120.
d) Applicants should be born on or after January 1st, 1977.
e) Selected participants will be required to take the GRE or GMAT exam.

PROCEDURE FOR THE SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS & CRITERIA FOR AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS:

1) Registration Certificate: Photocopies of the Registration Certificate (RC) of the applicant, and that of
the applicant’s parents and spouse (if married) Applicants who reside in Nepal but do not have an
RC from Nepal, or are not listed as a dependent on a parent’s registration card, must obtain a letter
from a CTA-affiliated organization based in Nepal certifying that the applicant is a Tibetan refugee
residing in Nepal.

2) Green Book: Photocopies of the Green Book of applicant, and that of the applicant’s parents and
spouse (If married). If your parents or spouse are deceased, you need to submit a copy of their
death certificate respectively.

3) Applicants whose parents live in Tibet or have passed away must produce a certificate to this effect
from the concerned Settlement Officer where they live or a death certificate respectively.

4) School Certificates: Applicants must produce year-wise Mark Sheets and Degrees from their
respective schools from which they have graduated.

5) Attestation:  All the documents you are submitting for the TSP must be attested by a CTA gazette
officer (above the rank of Joint Secretary) or notarized by a Notary Officer.

6) Medical Certificate: A Fitness Certificate from a registered medical doctor should be submitted.  The
medical form can be downloaded from the TF website, http://www.tibetfund.org.

7) Travel Document: As there is no provision for an Identity Certificate (IC) extension for TSP
candidates studying in the United States, applicants should have their IC renewed or extended
during the entire study period in advance.

8) U.S. Visa:  Participants will be required to apply for a J-1 exchange visitor visa from the U.S. Embassy.
Selection as a TSP participant does not guarantee approval for a visa.  Applicants who have prior visa 2
denials from the U.S. Embassy must inform the Tibet Fund and the Tibetan Scholarship Program’s
Student Selection Committee (TSP SCC) at the time of application.

9) No Objection Certificate: If the Applicant is serving in any institution, he or she should furnish a “No
Objection Certificate” from his/her respective employer.

10) Photo: Applicants must submit three (3) passport-sized photos.

11) Program: Applicants should choose one major study program from any of the following fields of
study as indicated. The fields of study specified below were identified based on the needs and
benefit to the Tibetan community and the Central Tibetan Administration. They are arranged in
alphabetical order.

12) Deadline: Interested applicants are responsible for submitting all application forms and other
relevant documents to their respective TSP SSC on or before March 31, 2012, at 5.00 pm. No late
or incomplete applications will be entertained after the deadline has passed.

13) General Awareness Test on Tibetan Culture and History (GATT):  The applicants will have the
option to take a test either in Tibetan or in English. Applicants who take the test in Tibetan will be
given two (2) additional points toward the total marks they receive.

3rd Global Vision for Young Tibetans Conference


Empowering the Vision Project [ENVISION] is happy to announce that it will hold 3rd Global Vision for Young Tibetans Conference on Feb 9-14, 2012 at SOS VTC Selaqui. The target audience of this conference is university going students of Himalayan region.

In the past conferences, we essentially brought together over 100 students spanning different universities in India at one place for a week and gave them a platform to interact, share experiences and learn from each other. It was also an opportunity for the participants to introspect, discover who they are, what they want to become and develop goals for their lives.

The Conference has been very successful in outreaching to the youth and also supporting their personality growth and development.

The conference seeks to achieve the following objectives:
• To inspire & motivate young Tibetans to become self-reliant and dynamic
• To promote leadership skills and strengthen self confidence
• To provide exposure to new ways of learning and growth
• To facilitate sharing of experiences and knowledge among the youth
We will be able to accommodate only about 100 students. We invite all the young Tibetan students in different universities in India to register as soon as possible. The registration will be accepted on first come first serve basis but with due consideration to regional representation.

Eligibility Criteria
Age: 18-30

Open to all university under-graduates, university graduates, graduate job seekers and young entrepreneurs. A basic knowledge of English is essential. Registration fees of Rs. 500/- is compulsory to confirm your registration.

One way travel expenses (bus & train) and conference fees including food and accommodation during the entire programme will be covered by ENVISION.

Bangalore International Airport


Bangalore International Airport (BIA) is around 32 km from Bangalore City Bus stand and Railway station and it covers an area of around 4000 acres. It will take 1 hour if you go by private cab and will take more than one hour if you are going by BTMC volvo bus during non peak hour and will take even more if it is during peak hours from Bangalore City Bus stand to Bangalore International Airport. It will cost around Rs.1000 by pravite cab and will cost Rs. 165 if you are going by BTMC volvo bus. Bangalore International Airport replaced Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Airport and now, it is one of the most busiest airport in India.

Work Experience: Although at least three years of professional experience in the field is preferred, application from candidates with less or no experience will also be considered.

Remuneration: ENVISION is offering a starting gross salary of Rs. 20,000 per month. Salary is negotiable based on professional background and experience. The hired person is entitled to 21 working days of paid annual leave, 7 days of casual leave other than the declared government holidays. The office also provides medical insurance covering an assured sum amount of Rs. 3 Lakhs.

Age limit: The candidate should not be more than 45 years of age at the date on which the appointment takes effect.
